BAGHDAD: Six people were killed and seven others injured in a roadside bomb explosion targeted a police patrol in Iraq's southern city of Basra on Sunday, a local police source said.

One security man and five civilians were killed by the blast in the Hamdan neighborhood in southern Basra, the source told on condition of anonymity. The wounded were four policemen and four civilians, the source said. The police have no further details about the incident, he said. The oil-rich Basra, which located some 550 km south of the country, is the second largest city in Iraq.
